What Happened on My Birthday

- a copy of the local newspaper, which in addition to the headline events, will also be filled with many interesting facts
- we will purchase a set of coins for the year of birth
- we will document who the Prime Minister is
- we will purchase a stamp
- we will print out the weather forecast
- we will document our thoughts on the day and how we felt on the day the baby was born
- we will document the family tree, aunts, uncles and cousins names and where they lived
- we will take a picture of the child's family home
- we will write down one piece of wisdom in the form of an inspirational quote
- we will purchase the monthly news magazine
- we will purchase a fashion magazine, a homes magazine, and a car magazine
- we will write a page about their parents, maybe some thoughts how they acted when the child was born; maybe what their parents favorite food or favorite tv program was

All of these items will be placed in a box and tucked away for that day our grandchild asks us that question, what happened on my birthday.

The question may come in their early years, or, it may come later in life. But, whenever the question comes we will have a treasure box, or a time capsule of events that occurred on the day the child was born.

The list above is only a partial list, depending on where you live and your circumstances you may come up with some other ideas. No matter what things you tuck away your grandchild will appreciate your thoughtfulness!
